The Pregnant Workers Fairness Act

The Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA) is a federal law that requires employers with 15 or more employees to provide reasonable accommodations to qualified employees and applicants for their known limitations related to pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions, unless the accommodation would pose an undue hardship on the employer. The law, which went into effect on June 27, 2023, aims to ensure pregnant workers can maintain their health and employment without fear of discrimination.
