How do I join the JHU Talent Community?

Head to the JHU Careers site at https://hiring.jhu.edu/careers and click ‘Sign In.’

  • New here? Click ‘New Member’ to create your Candidate Profile.
  • Been here before? Enter your email and password to sign in. Fill in all required fields (marked with an asterisk *). Be sure to save your password so you can come back anytime.
  • You can also see the option at the top to ‘Join Our Talent Networks.’

What’s a Candidate Profile?

It’s your account for applying to jobs, saving searches, and tracking your applications—all in one place. It will also allow our recruitment system to recommend jobs that match your profile.

What are ‘Job Agents,’ and how do I set them up?

‘Job Agents’ are saved searches that produce an email with new job openings that match your criteria. Set keywords/filters, choose how often you want alerts, and let the jobs come to you.

How do I search for positions?

Once you click on ‘Search Staff Jobs’, you will be directed to a Home screen with a search bar to enter keywords and click Search Staff Jobs. Have a requisition number? Pop it into the keyword box to jump straight to that job. Click any job title to see details and apply.

How do I apply for a job?

Click ‘Apply Now’ on the posting. You can apply with Facebook, LinkedIn, or through the online application. If you use Facebook or LinkedIn, your profile info (like address and work history) will auto-fill—just complete any missing required fields.

What should I expect after clicking ‘Apply Now’?

You’ll be asked to verify your login, then click ‘Apply for Job’ again to enter the Applicant Tracking System. Complete your profile/application and attach your resume. Fields with an asterisk (*) are required. Use the Help (?) icon next to any field if you need guidance.

Do I need a cover letter or other documents?

Read the posting carefully. If specific items are required, upload them within that job application. Pro tip: Don’t upload job-specific documents (like cover letters) to your general Profile—add them to each application instead.

How will I know my application was received?

You’ll get a confirmation email with a link to access your profile in the future.

How do I track my application status?

Log in and click View Profile from the Home screen (and again if prompted). On your Candidate Profile, select ‘Job Management’ to see:

  • Jobs you’ve applied to
  • Application dates and current statuses
  • Options to view the job description, see the resume you submitted, withdraw, or edit your application and attachments

When will I hear from someone regarding my application?

Timing can vary based on the role, number of applicants, and hiring timelines. The best way to stay informed is to track your status in your profile account and keep an eye on your email for updates.

How long are jobs posted? I have a specific job number, but I can’t apply.

Jobs on our site are active and accepting applications until a final candidate is hired—there’s no set timeframe. If you get an error or no results when searching for a job number, the position has likely been filled or canceled.

I think I fit the criteria for the job I applied for, but why wasn’t I selected for an interview?

We often receive a high volume of applications, and timing can play a big role. We recommend setting up a Job Alert so you can apply early—ideally within a day or two of receiving an alert. Applying early can increase the chance your resume is reviewed by a recruiter and, ultimately, the hiring manager (assuming your experience is a strong match).

I’m interested in a job and want to apply. When can I ask about a flexible schedule?

The job posting includes standard hours and the work schedule. If you’d like to discuss flexibility, bring it up during the interview. Please note that not all roles can accommodate flexible arrangements.

How do I update my Candidate Profile and documents?

From the Home screen, click ‘View Profile’ (and again to see details). You can update your information and upload documents like your resume. Heads up: Be sure to upload cover letters and other job-specific documents to each application, not just your general Profile.

How do I change my password?

Sign in, go to ‘View Profile’ (again if prompted), then click Password Management at the top of your Candidate Profile.

Who can I contact if I need help or an accommodation?

Email the Talent Acquisition Office at [email protected]. TTY users can call via Maryland Relay or dial 711.
